Terms, refunds, privacy and support
Written to be read. If something here is unclear, write to support@kiyosoft.com and we will answer in the same plain words.
Terms
The app
Kiyo Workout is a workout tracker: an exercise library, workout and routine planning, logging your sets, body measurements and progress photos, and analytics. The free version has every feature and can be used for as long as you like, with an allowance of 4 new custom routines and 4 new progress photos a month, counted afresh on the 1st. Logging, the exercise library, analytics and backup are not limited. There is no Kiyosoft account: you do not sign up or sign in to use it.
Pro
Pro takes away the free version's monthly allowances and the "Prepared with Kiyo Workout" line on the reports you export. It is a subscription sold inside the app through Google Play, at the price the store shows before you subscribe: ₹499 a month or ₹4,999 a year in India, GST included.
New subscribers get the first 7 days free; cancel before they end and you are not charged. After that the subscription renews by itself at the end of each month or year until you cancel it, which you can do at any time in your Google Play subscriptions. When it ends, the app goes back to the free version, with its monthly allowances. Nothing you entered is lost or locked away: you can still open, change, share, back up and export all of it, and only adding a new custom routine or progress photo past the month's allowance waits until the 1st.
Buying Pro is also subject to the terms of Google Play.
Your health
Kiyo Workout is a tracker. The workouts it suggests, the progression, recovery and readiness messages, and the BMI number are worked out from what you enter, and are not medical advice, a diagnosis or a substitute for a doctor, physiotherapist or qualified trainer. BMI is a rough screening number only. Exercise carries a risk of injury. Check with a doctor before you start or change an exercise programme, especially if you are injured, pregnant or have a health condition, use a weight you can control, and stop if something hurts. You exercise at your own risk and decide what is right for your body.
Your data
Everything you enter is kept on your phone and belongs to you. Because we never receive it, we cannot recover it for you: keep a backup, and keep your recovery code safe. A backup is encrypted, and without your key or its recovery code nobody, including us, can open it. You are responsible for having the right to keep any photo you add.
Figures and suggestions
Estimated one-rep maxes, volume, trends, projections, readiness and the other numbers in the app are worked out from the weights, reps and measurements you enter, and are only as right as those figures. Plate and warm-up suggestions are a guide.
What we do not promise
We work hard to keep the app right and available, but we cannot promise it is free of mistakes, and our liability is limited to what you paid for Pro in the last twelve months.
Refunds
Pro is paid to Google Play, so refunds go through Google, under its refund policy. We never see your payment details and cannot refund a store purchase ourselves.
- Google Play: follow Google Play's refund steps: find the Pro purchase in your order history and ask for a refund there.
Cancelling stops the next renewal; it does not by itself refund the period already paid for. Cancel during the 7-day free trial and nothing is charged. Manage or cancel Pro in Google Play subscriptions.
If something in Pro does not work as we said it would, write to support@kiyosoft.com too: we would rather put it right.
Privacy
What stays on your phone
Your workouts, routines and plans, body measurements, goals, journal entries, progress photos and everything else you enter are kept only on your phone. Kiyosoft has no server that receives any of it, there is no Kiyosoft account, and the app has no advertising, analytics or tracking of any kind. The only details that leave the phone are the purchase record described under "Buying Pro" below, and a message you choose to send to support, described under "Writing to support" below. The app does not encrypt its own data on the phone, so use the phone's screen lock and the app lock.
- Camera and photos. Progress photos you take with the camera or choose from the gallery are made smaller on the phone and kept in the app on the phone. They are never uploaded. They are left out of your backups, including the automatic ones, unless you switch on Include progress photos on the Backup page. The app asks for the camera the first time you use it.
- Health and fitness data. What you log and measure is typed in by you. The app does not connect to Health Connect or any other health service, and does not read your phone's sensors or your location.
- Sharing. Weekly and monthly reports, the report for a coach, backup files and shared routines open in your phone's share sheet for you to send yourself. The app never posts anything by itself, and never reads your messages.
- Reminders. Reminders for workout days, rest days and backups are scheduled on the phone. There are no push notifications from us. Exact reminders use the phone's alarm permission, which you allow in the app's reminder settings.
- Voice guidance. Spoken prompts during a workout use your phone's own text-to-speech voice, on the phone. The app does not use the microphone.
- App lock. Your PIN is stored only as a salted check value, never as the PIN itself. Fingerprint and face unlock are handled by the phone; the app never sees them.
- Backups. Backups are encrypted on the phone with your key before they are saved. A backup you copy or share goes only where you send it, and cannot be opened without the key. If Android's own backup is on, Google may keep a copy of the app's newest automatic backup, still encrypted and without progress photos, and its settings in your Google account under Google's terms.
Your key and recovery code
The first time it opens, the app makes a random key on the phone, and encrypts your backups with it. The phone saves the key to your own Google account (Google's Block Store), so that it comes back by itself on a new phone signed in to the same account; Google keeps it under its own terms, and we never receive it. The app also shows the key as a recovery code for you to write down. Anyone with the recovery code can open your backups, so keep it private.
Buying Pro
Pro is bought through Google Play, which takes the payment under its own privacy policy; we never see your card, UPI or bank details.
We use RevenueCat, a subscription service, to check whether you have Pro. RevenueCat receives an anonymous ID worked out from your key (it cannot be turned back into the key or used to open a backup), the purchase as the store reports it (the product, price, dates, trial and renewal status, and the store's transaction numbers), and the app version, the phone's operating system and the store's country, as RevenueCat's software sends them. It never receives your workouts, measurements, photos or anything else you enter. The app does not give RevenueCat your name, email address or phone number. RevenueCat processes this for us under its privacy policy.
Writing to support
When you write to us from Help in the app and press Send, the app sends the message to Kiyosoft's website, which emails it to us and keeps it, with a ticket number, so that a person can answer it and follow it up. It sends the message and the topic you chose, the email address you give for the answer, and that the phone is an Android one. If you leave Include app details on, your name (if you gave one in the app), the app version, the phone's make and model, your plan (Free or Pro) and the app's language go too. Nothing else goes with it: never your workouts, measurements or photos. The website keeps these messages with Microsoft Azure, and uses your network address only to stop one connection sending too many messages, keeping it as a one-way code rather than the address itself. If you would rather, use your email app instead: Help offers that too, or write to support@kiyosoft.com.
What reaches us
Anything you write to us. As the seller, we can see the purchase records Google and RevenueCat show to developers, such as order numbers, dates and amounts, but not your workouts, measurements or photos. If you email us, we keep the message and your email address to answer you.
We do not sell or share your details with anyone, except where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
Messages you send us, for as long as we need them to answer you. Purchase records, for as long as Indian tax law requires and the stores' and RevenueCat's own policies provide; see deleting your data to have RevenueCat's record removed.
Your rights
Ask support@kiyosoft.com to see, correct or delete what we hold about you. Your records are yours to export or erase in the app at any time. Kiyo Workout is for adults and is not directed at children.
If we change this policy, we will update this page first.
Deleting your account and data
There is no Kiyosoft account
Kiyo Workout has no Kiyosoft account, so there is no account to delete, and nothing you enter in the app is held by us. Messages you send to support are kept for as long as we need them to answer you; write to support@kiyosoft.com to have them deleted sooner.
Your records
They are only on your phone, so only you can delete them. In the app, open More, then Data & storage, then Erase all data, or uninstall the app. Backups and reports you copied or shared stay where you put them until you delete them. Without your key and its recovery code, a backup left anywhere cannot be opened by anyone.
Your subscription and purchase records
- Cancel Pro first, in Google Play subscriptions. Uninstalling the app does not cancel it.
- Google keeps its own purchase records under its own policies.
- To have the purchase record RevenueCat keeps for us deleted, write to support@kiyosoft.com, with the subject "Delete my Kiyo Workout purchase data". Include the order number from the store's receipt, and the email address you wrote from, so that we can find it. We reply within seven days and delete it within thirty days of finding it. If the subscription is still active, the app may record it again the next time it checks with the store.
Support
Write to us from Help in the app, or email support@kiyosoft.com. Tell us what you were doing and what you expected. A person reads every message, in English or Tamil, on working days.
The Help screen in the app also answers the common questions. For a payment or a refund, see Refunds.
