Terms, refunds, privacy and support
Written to be read. If something here is unclear, write to info@kiyosoft.com and we will answer in the same plain words.
Terms
The app
Kiyo Food is an app for home bakers, cake studios and small food businesses: keeping track of orders, products and recipes, ingredient costs, stock and baking, customers, bills and payments. The free version can be used for as long as you like. There is no Kiyosoft account: you do not sign up or sign in to use it.
Pro
Pro adds the features listed on the product page. It is a subscription sold inside the app through Google Play or the App Store, at the price the store shows before you subscribe: ₹499 a month or ₹4,999 a year in India, GST included.
New subscribers get the first 7 days free; cancel before they end and you are not charged. After that the subscription renews by itself at the end of each month or year until you cancel it, which you can do at any time in your Google Play or App Store subscriptions. When it ends, the app goes back to the free version and nothing you entered is lost.
Buying Pro is also subject to the terms of Google Play or the App Store, whichever you bought it through.
Your data
Everything you enter is kept on your phone and belongs to you. Because we never receive it, we cannot recover it for you: keep a backup, and keep your recovery code safe. A backup is encrypted, and without your shop key or its recovery code nobody, including us, can open it. You are responsible for having your customers' permission to keep their details and to contact them, and for having the right to use a photo you did not take in a post or on your menu card.
Costs, stock and the food you sell
Recipe costs, margins, stock values and how much to bake are worked out from the prices, quantities and yields you enter, and are only as right as those figures; the stock value is an estimate. Use-by dates, allergens and dietary tags such as eggless are what you enter, and the app does not check them. The safety and labelling of the food you make and sell, and any food licence or registration your business needs, are your responsibility.
Tax figures
Kiyo Food works out GST from the rates you enter. Check your returns with your accountant; the app is not tax advice.
What we do not promise
We work hard to keep the app right and available, but we cannot promise it is free of mistakes, and our liability is limited to what you paid for Pro in the last twelve months.
Refunds
Pro is paid to Google Play or Apple, so refunds go through them, under their refund policies. We never see your payment details and cannot refund a store purchase ourselves.
- Google Play: follow Google Play's refund steps: find the Pro purchase in your order history and ask for a refund there.
- App Store: go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple ID, choose the Pro purchase and ask for a refund.
Cancelling stops the next renewal; it does not by itself refund the period already paid for. Cancel during the 7-day free trial and nothing is charged. Manage or cancel Pro in Google Play subscriptions or App Store subscriptions.
If something in Pro does not work as we said it would, write to info@kiyosoft.com too: we would rather put it right.
Privacy
What stays on your phone
Your customers, orders, products, recipes, ingredients and packaging, bakes, suppliers, photos, voice notes, bills, payments and everything else you enter are kept only on your phone. Kiyosoft has no server that receives any of it, there is no Kiyosoft account, and the app has no advertising, analytics or tracking of any kind. The only details that leave the phone are your shop's contact details, described under "Your shop's contact details" below, and the purchase record described under "Buying Pro". While you use the voice assistant, what you say goes to your phone's own speech service, described under "Microphone and voice assistant" below. The app does not encrypt its own data on the phone, so use the phone's screen lock and the app lock.
- Contacts. When you choose a customer or supplier from your phone's contacts, only that one contact's details (the name, phone number, email, address and, for a supplier, the company) are copied into the app. When you save a customer or supplier to your phone, the app first looks in your contacts, on the phone, for the same number or email so as not to add it twice, then adds that one contact. The app never copies or uploads your address book.
- Camera and photos. Photos you take with the camera or choose from the gallery, for your products, for orders (reference photos and photos of the finished bake) and for your logo, are kept in the app on the phone. Posts and the menu card are made on the phone, and no photo is sent anywhere unless you share it yourself.
- WhatsApp and sharing. Reminders, order slips, bills, the menu card and posts open in WhatsApp or the share sheet with the message filled in, for you to send yourself. The app never posts anything by itself, and never reads your messages.
- Reminders. Reminders for orders due, bakes, appointments, tasks, low stock and use-by dates are scheduled on the phone.
- Calendar. "Add to phone calendar" opens your phone's calendar app with an order's pickup or delivery, or an appointment, filled in, for you to save. The app never reads your calendar. On iPhones older than iOS 17, iOS asks once whether the app may use the calendar.
- Microphone, voice assistant and voice notes. The app asks for the microphone the first time you tap one of its mic buttons, and listens only while the mic is on. For the voice assistant, your phone's own speech service (Google's on Android, Apple's on iPhone) turns what you say into text, and may send the sound to Google or Apple to do it, under their own privacy terms. The app receives only the text and uses it on the phone to do what you asked; it does not keep that sound, and never sends the sound or the text to us. A voice note you record on an order is kept as a sound file in the app on the phone, and in your encrypted backups, until you delete it. It is never sent to us, and goes elsewhere only when you share it yourself. Answers read aloud use the phone's own voice, on the phone.
- App lock. Your PIN is stored only as a salted check value, never as the PIN itself. Fingerprint and face unlock are handled by the phone; the app never sees them.
- Backups. Backups, photos and voice notes included, are encrypted on the phone with your shop key before they are saved. A backup you copy or share goes only where you send it, and cannot be opened without the key. If Android's own backup is on, Google may keep a copy of the app's newest automatic backup and its settings in your Google account under Google's terms.
Your shop key and recovery code
The first time it opens, the app makes a random key for your shop on the phone, and encrypts your backups with it. The phone saves the key to your own Google account (Google's Block Store) or to iCloud Keychain, so that it comes back by itself on a new phone signed in to the same account; Google and Apple keep it under their own terms, and we never receive it. The app also shows the key as a recovery code for you to write down. Anyone with the recovery code can open your backups, so keep it private.
Buying Pro
Pro is bought through Google Play or the App Store, which take the payment under their own privacy policies; we never see your card, UPI or bank details.
We use RevenueCat, a subscription service, to check whether a shop has Pro. RevenueCat receives an anonymous ID worked out from your shop key (it cannot be turned back into the key or used to open a backup), the purchase as the store reports it (the product, price, dates, trial and renewal status, and the store's transaction numbers), and the app version, the phone's operating system and the store's country, as RevenueCat's software sends them. It never receives your customers, orders, recipes or anything else you enter, other than your shop's contact details described below. RevenueCat processes this for us under its privacy policy.
Your shop's contact details
When you set up the app, and whenever you change your shop's details later, the app keeps these with your purchase record at RevenueCat, so that Kiyosoft can send you updates and offers: your shop's name, phone number and email address, the city, state, PIN code and country of its address, the kind of business, and the app's language. Your street address, and everything else you enter (customers, orders, recipes, money and the rest), is never sent.
Kiyosoft reads these details in RevenueCat's dashboard and may use them to contact you by email, phone or WhatsApp about Kiyo Food, for example about features and offers for shops that have used the free plan for a while. We do not sell them.
You can turn this off at any time in the app: More, then Privacy & data, then Share my shop details with Kiyosoft. The app then asks RevenueCat to remove them. You can also ask us to delete them: see deleting your data.
What reaches us
Your shop's contact details described above, unless you turn that off, and anything you write to us. As the seller, we can see the purchase records Google, Apple and RevenueCat show to developers, such as order numbers, dates and amounts, but not your customers, orders or recipes. If you email or call us, we keep the message and your contact details to answer you.
We do not sell or share your details with anyone, except where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
Messages you send us, for as long as we need them to answer you. Purchase records, for as long as Indian tax law requires and the stores' and RevenueCat's own policies provide; see deleting your data to have RevenueCat's record removed.
Your rights
Ask info@kiyosoft.com to see, correct or delete what we hold about you. Your business's records are yours to export or erase in the app at any time. Kiyo Food is meant for businesses and is not directed at children.
If we change this policy, we will update this page first.
Deleting your account and data
There is no Kiyosoft account
Kiyo Food has no Kiyosoft account, so there is no account to delete, and nothing you enter in the app is held by us, except the shop's contact details described under Privacy, which you can turn off in the app (More, then Privacy & data) or ask us to delete.
Your business's records
They are only on your phone, so only you can delete them. In the app, open More, then Data & storage, then Erase all data, or uninstall the app. Backups, posts and files you copied or shared stay where you put them until you delete them. Without your shop key and its recovery code, a backup left anywhere cannot be opened by anyone.
Your subscription and purchase records
- Cancel Pro first, in Google Play subscriptions or App Store subscriptions. Uninstalling the app does not cancel it.
- Google and Apple keep their own purchase records under their own policies.
- To have the purchase record RevenueCat keeps for us deleted, write to info@kiyosoft.com, or call +91 96779-00977, with the subject "Delete my Kiyo Food purchase data". Include the order number from the store's receipt, and the phone number or email you gave the app, so that we can find it. We reply within seven days and delete it within thirty days of finding it. If the subscription is still active, the app may record it again the next time it checks with the store.
Support
Write to info@kiyosoft.com, or call +91 96779-00977. Tell us what you were doing and what you expected. A person reads every message, in English or Tamil, on working days.
The Help screen in the app also answers the common questions. For a payment or a refund, see Refunds.
